Karandhara: They don’t appreciate the quality of the Vedas. The take it mostly as folklore, primitive.
Prabhupada: We do not take, the philosophical side is not primitive then why they are reading Bhagavad-gita and Vedas there are many scholars they appreciate. German people appreciate. Hitler was too much fond of Vedic civilisation he therefore marked his flag swastika. Why mark is there? That is appreciation. And still by comparison the idea of modern civilisation and the ideal presented there, one must have appreciation.

Note: I received the following message from Hansadutta dasa prabhu “because Prahupada knew I was born in Germany. (Berlin ,May 27 1941) and could speak German he sometimes mentioned some small facts in moments of confidential association regarding Adolf Hitler. Usually when i was the secretary, when we were alone in his room, or travelling somewhere in his car. He once mentioned that Hitler’s abend buch (evening book ) the book one keeps on a small bedside desk that he reads shortly before taking rest was BHAGAVAD Gita.”
Are you sure it was A Swastika though? Apparently the original/German edition of Mein Kampf the symbol is called the Hackenkreuz/hooked cross whish is a traditional German Christian symbol and the the English translation of the book translated hackenkreuz as Swastika
Hitler nowhere says he got Swastika from the Abbey Church, the reason is that Hitler was well aware of the fact that it existed long before Christianity.
Hitler NOWHERE literally NOWHERE said Swastika originated from Christianity ONTHE CONTRARY he said on many occasions that Swastika existed LONG BEFORE Christianity.

Apart from these, there was an OFFICIAL NS publication titled ‘Sinn und Weg des Hakenkreuzes by Jörg Lechler,’ which appeared in the December 1935 issue of the monthly magazine Der Schulungsbrief, published by the Reich Schooling Office of the NSDAP and the German Worker Front, which again acknowledges that Swastika existed long before Christianity, here is an excerpt: “Swastika – Reich Flag – Reich War Flag! A symbol has thereby became a symbol of unity for the German folk, which has accompanied its ancestors through Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age and early history, and German man through the Middle Ages down to the present time: 5,000 years of German history lie in the swastika!
Around the time of Christ, the swastika has been found among Germanic tribes on hundreds of urns filled with funeral ashes, on countless pieces of jewelry and weapons, clothes and equipment, so often that one can speak of a Germanic national symbol. And even 3,000 years before that time, hence farther back into the Stone Age of Northern Germany’s Nordic culture, from which the later Germanic folk first developed, we find the swastika. It is really tied to our homeland.”
