In this video, we examine Purujit’s controversial statements concerning Jayadvaita Swami’s editing, Hayagriva’s editorial work, and the original 1972 Macmillan Bhagavad-gita As It Is.
Purujit questions the practical value of an approved book containing editorial mistakes and defends returning to earlier manuscript drafts. But who has the authority to reconstruct Srila Prabhupada’s books after he has personally approved their publication?
Drawing upon Prabhupada’s original letters, recorded conversations, and signed preface to the 1972 Bhagavad-gita, this video challenges Purujit’s position and examines the fundamental difference between authorised editorial work and subsequent unauthorised book changing.
Particular attention is given to Prabhupada’s instructions:
- “Do not try to change anything without my permission.”
- “Whatever is done is done. No more.”
- “No corrections.”
- “He should not become more learned than the authority.”
- “The next printing should be again to the original way.”
We also examine Purujit’s claim that Prabhupada, through his vani, can authorise him to edit his books, and ask one fundamental question:
Where is the evidence of that authorisation?
The central issue is simple: Should devotees accept the Bhagavad-gita that Prabhupada personally approved and published, or allow subsequent editors to reconstruct his work according to their own understanding of unfinished manuscript drafts?
